ElectHER Future Lawmakers Program — A six-month intensive legislative and leadership development program for aspiring female legislators between the ages of 25 and 45.

Designed for working professionals with a strong interest in politics who want to seek for a position in Nigeria’s federal or state legislatures.

ElectHER invites applications for the 1st Cohort of the ElectHER Future Lawmakers Program, as part of our mandate to construct a multidimensional empowerment model of capacity building that will equip women with the necessary skills and knowledge to run for elected office (EFLP).

The ElectHER Future Lawmakers Program is a flagship program of ElectHER Academy, and it aims to address the reduction in female leaders by training a new generation of female legislators who are committed to challenging the status quo.

The programs goal is to find, equip, and enable women working in a variety of fields to run for legislative offices. EFLP is a five-month intensive legislative and leadership development program for female legislators.

The fellowship is aimed at professionals with a strong interest in politics who want to vie for a legislative position in Nigeria’s federal or state legislatures.

For this initial cohort, 30 extraordinary women between the ages of 25 and 45 will be shortlisted to run for a parliamentary seat in the 2023 elections, either at the state or federal level. Fellows will receive the necessary skills, resources, and space to develop new ideas, accelerate their impact, brainstorm electoral plans for 2023, and acquire increased access to human, social, and financial capital.

At the end of the programme and upon successful completion, fellows would have achieved;

  2. Intensive training on policy design and analysis
  3. A robust and in-depth understanding of the legislature and principles of lawmaking.
  4. Access to a community support network locally and internationally.
  5. Access to campaign funding opportunities.

Application Procedure

All intending fellows must fill an application form to be considered for the programme on or before Friday, June 11th 2021. Please get the following documents ready, as you will be required to attach with your application.
