    • You have at least three years of experience driving change through entrepreneurial approaches. You could, for example, have:
      • Founded or grown a social enterprise
      • OR directed the growth of a social impact initiative within a company.
      • OR have you been addressing a specific social/environmental issue through a common thread that runs through all of your work?
  • Creating impact with a focus on systems change
    • You can show the results and impact of your entrepreneurial action.
    • Your impact addresses unjust systems and practices in your area of work.
  • Personal qualities of a social entrepreneur
    • You are a positive force in the world.
    • You are determined and persistent, and you are willing to fail and try again.
    • You have a proclivity for action.
    • You have a proclivity to look for opportunities and resources in your surroundings.
    • You are willing to take personal, as well as financial, risks.
    • You build networks and encourage members to work together to achieve common goals.
    • You have apprenticed with or experienced the problem you are attempting to solve.

    You can demonstrate why business education is essential in helping to develop your work/impact at this stage

    • You are in a situation where the program’s cost is a significant financial burden.
    • You can prove your need for the Scholarship (for example, due to previous work experiences or personal circumstances)

Application Procedure

Applicants interested in the University of Oxford Skoll Scholarship can follow these guide to apply:

  • Connect with us to register your interest in the Scholarship and make sure you’re kept up to date with announcements about upcoming deadlines.
  • Apply for the Oxford MBA program directly to Saïd Business School. You need to do this during stages 1, 2, or 3 of the MBA admissions process.
  • As part of your MBA application, upload your answers to the Skoll Scholarship essay questions before submitting your application. The Scholarship essay questions are found in the MBA application’s “Funding” section. We recommend giving yourself one week to answer the Skoll Scholarship essay questions.
  • The MBA Admissions Team will then review your application and decide whether or not you are admitted to the MBA program.
  • If you were accepted into the MBA program, your application will be automatically forwarded to the Skoll Scholarship Selection Committee.
  • Applications for the Scholarship are reviewed following each stage of MBA admissions.
  • You will be notified of the status of your Scholarship application and whether it is being considered for final shortlisting shortly after MBA admission decisions have been made at each stage.
  • If you receive notification that your Scholarship application has been shortlisted for final consideration, look for an email from the Skoll Centre with a link to the Logistics and Reference Form. See the timelines below to determine when to expect this email.
  • Complete the Logistics and Reference Form once you have received the email. This consists of a series of short questions to confirm your contact information (in case you are invited to interview), how you heard about the Scholarship, and the contact information for your referees.

NOTE: your referees will not be contacted unless you get to the final stages of the selection process.

To be considered for the Skoll Scholarship, candidates must apply to the Oxford MBA program during specific stages of the School’s application rounds.
