The University of Postgraduate Research scholarship is currently inviting applications from international students around the world who are enrolling in a postgraduate Program for 2022/23 academic session.
About the University of Sydney Postgraduate Research Scholarship
This scholarship has been established by the University of Sydney Faculty of Engineering to provide academic tuition fees to outstanding international higher degree research (HDR) students within the Faculty.

Subject to satisfactory academic performance, the scholarship will cover academic course fees as well as the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF):
- For a successful master’s by research recipient, up to four research periods are available (no possible extension)
- A PhD recipient may receive up to 12 research periods, with a two-year extension option.
Eligibility Criteria
- The University of Sydney Postgraduate Research Scholarship is open to international students.
- Applicants must have received an unconditional offer of admission to a full-time PhD or master’s by research program, with the intention of transferring to a PhD after passing the first progress review interview.
- Applicants must show proof that their stipend allowance is paid by a third-party sponsor or is funded by the university.
- Applicants must apply for an RTP scholarship and be considered for one.
- Applicants must not have received an RTP or comparable primary scholarship that covers academic course fees.
Application Procedure
Applicants applying for the University of Sydney Postgraduate Research Scholarship are to note that Engineering HDR students who can show proof of a third-party sponsor or university-funded stipend allowance will be considered for this scholarship.
