The University of Tsinghua Schwarzman Scholars program represents the inaugural scholarship tailored to address the geopolitical dynamics of the 21st century. Across all domains, the effectiveness of upcoming global leaders hinges upon comprehending China’s influence on worldwide trends.

The core of the Schwarzman Scholars initiative is a demanding and immersive Master of Global Affairs curriculum offered at Tsinghua University in Beijing

Eligibility Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent: Applicants must hold or expect to receive a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution by August 1 of their enrollment year. This ensures that candidates have attained a certain educational background before pursuing postgraduate studies.
  • Fluency in English: Applicants must demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be in English. If the applicant’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. This requirement is waived for applicants who studied at an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program. The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied English for two or more years with a Masters degree or higher. Acceptable test options are Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT). Minimum score 100. International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Minimum score 7. Cambridge English: Advanced (C1) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2). Minimum score 185.
  • Age requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years old but not yet 29 years old by August 1 of the year they enroll in the Schwarzman Scholars program. This age range is set to target individuals who are in the early stages of their careers and are poised to become future leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and academic excellence: Applicants should showcase a strong track record of leadership experience and academic achievement. This may include participation in extracurricular activities, community service, research projects, or professional endeavors that demonstrate leadership potential and intellectual curiosity.
