The Bertha Challenge Fellowship provides activists and investigative journalists with the opportunity to spend a year creating a body of work that addresses a major social justice issue.

The third Bertha Challenge Fellowship will begin in January 2022 with a focus on water, with Bertha Fellows being supported to answer the following question: How is the relationship between politics and profit contributions to the degradation and loss of our freshwater and oceans, and what can be done to ensure equitable access and protection of these finite resources for people and planet?
