About the Princeton Arts Fellowship
Princeton Arts Fellowship 2022/2024

The Princeton Arts Fellowships, which are supported in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts, and the Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund, will be given to artists whose work has been recognized as demonstrating exceptional promise in any area of artistic practice or teaching.

Early-career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors, and performance artists (this list is not exhaustive) who would benefit from spending two years teaching and working in an artistically vibrant university community are encouraged to apply.

Princeton Arts Fellows spend two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) at Princeton University and formal teaching is expected. The standard work assignment for fellows will be to teach one course per semester, subject to the Dean of the Faculty’s approval, but they may be asked to take on artistic activity in lieu of a class, such as directing a play or choreographing a dance with students.

Despite the reduced teaching load, Fellows are expected to be full and active members of the Princeton community, with a commitment to frequent and involved engagement with students throughout the academic year.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Open to early career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors and performance artists;
  • One need not be a U.S. citizen to apply.
