The Malaysian Government Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) program aims to encourage exceptional minds from all over the world to pursue postgraduate studies in Malaysia.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the 2022/2023 Government of Malaysia International Scholarship should be graduates from the recipient countries (see guidelines) of MIS 2022 who:

  • desire to study full-time for a master’s or doctoral degree in Malaysia; or
  • are now enrolled in full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian state universities and private higher educational institutions.

Other requirements needed:

  • Applicants must not be more than 40 and 45 years old at the time of application for Master and PhD levels respectively.
  • Possessing strong academic credentials:
  • Applicants for master’s degrees must have a CGPA of 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or better on their bachelor’s degree;
  • CGPA 3.0 / outstanding performance at the Masters level in courses relating to the proposed study program for PhD applicants
  • Developing a strong command of the English language:
    • Obtaining an IELTS band of 6.0 or above; or
    • Obtaining a TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) overall score of 550 or above; or
    • Has previously earned a degree in which English was utilized as the medium of instruction (evidence is a prerequisite).
  • Submitting a minimum of 1,000-words written research proposal that is related to the targeted topic of study.
Benefit
  • This Malaysia International Scholarship covers tuition expenses as well as a monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00.
  • Successful applicants will be expected to plan their own travel to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). The Malaysian government will not cover your travel expenditures.
  • It is strongly encouraged that all applicants research the projected living expenditures in Malaysia.

  • Application Form;
  • A certified copy of a Passport as evidence of nationality;
  • A certified copy of Academic Transcript(s) of previous degrees;
  • A certified copy of the English Proficiency test result (IELTS / TOEFL);
  • Letter of Recommendation from two (2) referees;
  • Endorsement Form;
  • Admission letter from Malaysian university/higher education institute (if applicable);
  • Curriculum Vitae; and
  • Research Proposal
